Barker Steel LLC Acquires Free State Steel Inc.

MILFORD, MA – January 06, 2010 - Barker Steel is pleased to announce that on Nov 02, 2009 it completed its acquisition of Free State Steel Inc., a privately held company based in Baltimore, MD. Barker Steel announced a definitive agreement on October 08, 2009 to acquire Free State Inc. to form a new subsidiary called Barker Steel Mid-Atlantic LLC.

Founded in 1977, Free State Steel Inc. is a Rebar and Structural Steel Lintels Fabricator, operating from 2 fabricating shops – Baltimore, MD and Fredericksburg, VA, with capacity of 3000 tons of rebar per month. It also counts on a full Construction Services staff comprised of detailers, estimators and coordinators.

The acquisition of Free State Steel will enable Barker Steel LLC to service Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina, further strengthening its position in that market.
