Barker Steel LLC is the licensed supplier in the US of the Cobiax® technology and products used for creating voided slabs. The basic concept employed is to efficiently reduce concrete in the zones of a slab where it is not required. The use of positioned hollow voids reduces the dead weight without modifying the flexural strength of the slab or the load transfer to supports.
Cobiax® has been successfully tested and used with outstanding results for the past five years throughout Europe. The Harvard Life Science complex in Boston will be one of the first projects in the US to use the Cobiax® technology.
